I'm done with this place, after all these years :) I was this opinionated, starry-eyed twit with a buttload of dreams of becoming a writer (because of the feedback I got on the stuff I wrote here) and very few fears. Now I'm older and less naive and super cynical and too different from the girl who used to write Confessions of the Chocolate Obsessed to stay on here. What a weekend it was. Ammu said we meet to part, and every parting is painful, and left for home, I love how much that makes sense. Then I walked around in the hot sun, intending to go to one place and ending up in another altogether. I ate SO so much, got tipsy, met my people, had our usual conversations, picked each other up, took pictures, ate skillet cookies in the middle of CookieCrumbsInc.http://www.blogger.com/profile/06913746088715446566noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031105121330820808.post-54507868816563586732018-03-16T10:54:00.001+05:302018-03-16T10:54:27.155+05:30H(W)ealth*
My 75 yo grandmother got a clean chit of physical and mental health from a doctor yesterday, despite being a long-standing diabetic who doesn't actively do much to cut down her indirect glucose consumption. Have you heard of labneh? It is Middle Eastern, stupidly easy to make (I make it regularly, that should tell you something), stays in the fridge for ages (okay, about a couple of weeks), very versatile (you can make it spicy, plain, salty, garlicky, peppery; it can be used as a dip, spread, whatever), and is clean-eating friendly too (sorta high in protein, relatively low CookieCrumbsInc.http://www.blogger.com/profile/06913746088715446566noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031105121330820808.post-10920441509140995192018-03-12T09:30:00.003+05:302018-03-13T13:21:51.156+05:30Loss
I woke up this morning, dreaming of my Appu (grandpa). I was putting together a plate of dosa and sambhar for his lunch, Ammu (grandma) giving me instructions on what to put where (because Appu is very particular) and telling me to take it to him before it gets cold. I go hand him the plate, he takes it grumpily (because, as always, SOMETHING is not perfect), and sit by his side.

January was a tornado of great food and random conversations (family came to stay with me) but well-disciplined and focused (if you know me at all, you'll know why this is both funny and super impressive) - I absolutely slayed my resolutions throughout the month with pretty decent progress. You know what I did? Something blasphemous to a reading purist. I peeked.
20% into the book I peeked at the last few pages to find out who did it.
And you know what else? I don’t regret it.
Neither did it ruin the book for me because I’d already pretty much guessed who it was, considering this book followed the same pattern as its CookieCrumbsInc.http://www.blogger.com/profile/06913746088715446566noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2031105121330820808.post-28810084292234797862018-01-16T14:37:00.000+05:302018-01-16T19:11:54.561+05:30Say You’re Sorry #cookiereads

This is a typical mystery/thriller; a lawyer struggling to cope with the hand she was dealt, aided and abetted by a PI, decides to defend the 'little guy' who everyone thinks murdered his girlfriend brutally. Also, a quick search on Goodreads tells me, the book is the first of a series.

I have very vivid, very detailed dreams; some terrifying, some good, but mostly very weird. They usually have nothing to do with what's happening in my life and I remember most of them afterward in as much detail.
This has been the case for as long as I can remember, so I thought it was about time I documented some of them here (so that I can embarrass myself sufficiently). If we were having coffee, I'd tell you I'm three books behind on my Goodreads challenge and I'm worried I won't be able to reach my goal before the year ends. I know I'll beat myself up if I don't, but I'm also pep-talking myself into accepting that its okay to not have a perfect number, its okay to not have done EVERYTHING, so that I don't end up reading trash simply as a means to an end. I’m a very firm believer in people doing what they want with their lives and in their bedrooms, it is absolutely no one else’s business. Of course, that they must be consenting adults who are not harming anyone or anything else, goes without saying. Which is precisely why I was firmly on the fence about the Milind Soman drama.

Okay, now that I have gotten that out of my system, let's talk Thor: Ragnarok. Right off the bat, let me make it clear that I love superhero movies but I haven't read ANY amount of comics to qualify as an educated commentator on these storylines and their placement in the multiverse. So I did the Dewey’s 24-hour Readathon this year (October 20-21, 2017), considering it was my first ever readathon of any sort (and one that I actually completed), I’m excited enough to blog about it :P

Yes, I feel suitably guilty about not blogging here.

Possibly the most painful thing about being in love and being loved back is not knowing where the lines are. You fit together, you make things work, you have fun, and you fight a lottle. But where are the lines? You think there aren’t any but you’re kidding yourself… push hard enough and you’ll find them. I love being a doofus. Making conversation is so much easier when I’m a doofus. I told this girl next to me halfway through the MMA class that I was on the verge of dying and she started laughing. We exchanged a couple of words and parted smiling. In a class full of people who wouldn’t make eye contact, I’d call it a win.
