Randomness Rattling Around In The Head

•    I don’t understand people who say they haven’t read Harry Potter. Don’t understand as in me no comprende. Don’t understand as in my mind stops making sense of the words that come out of their mouths after that. This applies to people who say they hate reading. Not the ones who dislike reading, I understand it is personal choice. But they say they hate it. I feel like a five-year-old then - I want to pout angrily and say I hate you

•    Grammar is easy when you have to write, but marking someone else’s copy down and answering their questions as to why it has been marked down is just painful. Also, the number of twisted sentences I have to read every day is even more painful – makes me want to go back to happier times.

•    My blog reader thingy has finally conked out, leaving me stranded with so many blogs that I have been stalking for years and the painful task of having to transfer feeds individually, manually. Also, goodbye to the days when I follow someone via GFC. How do you manage your subscriptions? Any leads?

•    In the last couple of weeks, I have eaten out only twice (as opposed to every single goddamn day in the last two years), and cooked pasta, pudding, rotis, dal, chaawal, alu ki sabzi, salads, dosa, frittatas, pancakes and soya sabzi ALL BY MYSELF. And I find that, considering she didn’t give me any practical training whatsoever, Mom has equipped me well with all the knowledge I need to start using a full-fledged kitchen without too many accidents. My faith in myself grows by the morsel.

•    My 25-by-25 list is almost ready and I’m wondering if I should post it as a post-post or a page post.

•    I read through my own About Me and find it a little frivolous. Left me wondering if I’m frivolous. I like to think that I'm not. But for all I know, I might be.

•    The worst/best part about working with the Books category on Flipkart is that every day I find a couple of titles I really, really have to read right that second. No prizes for guessing who went broke buying books and more books this month.

•    I have been a ghost around the blogger world for a long time now – dropping by to read a million posts and never leaving a comment. I realize that the reward for a blogger is the comment that he/she receives and I wonder why I’m denying that joy to some really nice writers.

•    Also, I find myself skimming or closing tabs when I chance upon posts for contests and I detest myself for judging. But, but…. So many around!!

•    Thrift shopping is addictive.

•    I’m going back to my black phase – no more colors and all that sissiness for me and everyone who says my wardrobe needs color and go boil their heads.

•    I miss my Enid Blyton days. Those days which weren’t tainted with the knowledge of how bitter and nasty the writer was, allegedly.

Most importantly, WHERE THE FUCK HAS THE YEAR GONE?!! IT’S JULY-AUGUST ALREADY??!!

  2. It feels so good to see you back, PeeVee. Yours is one of the blogs that I feel should be converted into a book that I can read again and again. Seriously.

And is the Enid Blyton thing for real? Oh no! I have to google her. Right now.

And don't Google.. Don't ruin the image you have :/

  3. Time really does fly! I don't understand people who hate reading either...makes no sense. And the Harry Potter thing --- totally agree. You know what's harder? Those who haven't read Potter but read Twilight. I want to smack them on the head.

Blog reader: Feedly. It's great especially if you use chrome. All you have to do in feedly is type in the blog name/url and it will find it for you and you just add to feedly.

Good on you for cooking --- that's how you learn! I couldn't cook when I left home at 21. Now I'm a self taught masterchef *cough cough*

25 by 25 --- geez you're a baby! :D Keep it as a page but do a post linking to it --- easier to get back to it to cross things out. :)

    Good to see you back!

    1. Ugh, Twilight? Really?
I use Feedly but I want to know if I can export Google Reader subscriptions as a chunk. BUT I think I'm about a year too late :/
Haha, going by the stuff on Instagram, you don't have to cough :)
Heyy :P Me no baby wokay? Yep, that sounds good.

  4. Enid Blyton books. Who can forget those?
Yes, and in a blink, half a year has passed! So quick.
I have not blogged in a while (super long), and coming back to have to read yours first in the list :)
I love reading novels, but I just don't get the time to read anything besides my medical books lately. The last was Ps I love you by Cecelia Ahern, so backdated!

Anyway, hope to catch more of your posts! Good day!

    1. Good luck with your reading quest but if you are studying to be a doctor then I doubt if you will find time for fiction any time soon...

      Thanks for dropping by! :)

  5. I totally agree with you on the first point that you made. If somebody tells that they hate reading, I get angry with them. Wow nice to know that you have made a 25-by-25 list. I have always thought about making one myself but somehow that never materializes! And yeah this the first time that I am reading your blog and I am drooling after looking at all the chocolate on the cover :-D

  6. Oops! I haven't read Harry Potter :-|
Well, that's more because I didn't have access to the series. A painful truth of my life. *sobs silently*

And heya, I am one of the happy people at the receiving end of your blog-reading thingy :D Thank you!

  8. Wow, you hate people for not reading HP books?

Blogger reader is getting messed up almost all the time. There was this Bloglovin or something, where we could get all the feeds. I sometimes use Feedly where it takes our blogger account feed and shows it.

Wow, a cook in creation. Plans for Masterchef India? :P But, I hope I get a chance to get invited to enjoy your cooking, someday.

25 before 25 sounds great. I should make one, or two. :P
I guess page post would be nice. I mean if anyone comes here can also get 'inspired'. #JustSayin

Wait, did you just say July ? Whoa, where did April, May and June go ?

@Comment on my blog : I doubt if you would go back there. So, rewriting here. You were kidding right when you said you not among the best of bloggers? You are one of the best blogger I know. May be you don't know, but sometimes I do envy you because your writing is that good and then I feel I could do that, but I can't.
No where close to being a writer? You are a writer, a great write indeed, hands down.

P.S. You don't suck at labeling. Have you seen my labels? You could read the whole post there.

    1. I don't hate people for NOT reading, I hate people for saying they HATE it.

How do you keep track of your subscriptions then?

Haha, at your own risk :P

Definitely, you should. As far as inspiration goes, I wonder if I myself will be inspired enough :P

I know, right :O So quickly the year is passing us by :/

*flying high in the clouds without even smoking any pot* :P But seriously, aww, thank you so much.. It really does mean a lot, considering you have been around the block for as long as me (longer?) :)

P.S: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, cheers to that then :P

  10. "About Me" is seriously the worst. I'll never be as witty or intelligent or deep as other people. Don't worry about what people think of what you wrote there ... your writing says it all.

  11. Amen to the first point. My ear shut out their words if someone says they hate reading or they hate/ haven't read Harry Potter.

Loved your random list. Being frivolous is not that bad but there's a place and time for it. So it's you who gotta decide if it's in the right place :)

And you question about the year is what's playing on my mind these days. How come it's July end already? :O

  12. Such people do exist my dear, in lots. Simple ignore them.

If you used google reader, you sign in with your google account in feedly.com and all your feeds are directly imported.

Oh I would love to read your 25 wala list. Publish it is a page but do a post on it so that we are notified.

Its almost August and one by one all the festivals will come and go and suddenly we will be staring at the New Year :/

  14. I suddenly feel very old, because its been years since I made my 25 by 25 (which incidentally was also the most successful of all my life lists lol... 26 by 26 was decidedly mediocre :P ). Infact I think I will put out a 30 by 30 (okay I cringed at that) soon. :/

You keep appearing and disappearing from my blog feed. What up with that yo??

    1. :P Pliss. You don't need me to tell you how age is just a number and all that. And even at 24, I act like a grandma sometimes, so that is negated out.

I have no idea. Blogger is driving me nuts :'(

  17. By now you know ignorance is bliss. I am glad at the times I just knew Enid Blyton as a happy writer who taught me about scones and lemonades and of a more recent time when I knew of Nigella as a woman who makes happy chocolate cakes.

Isn't it liberating to be able to cook on one's own? I love how we can be so non-reliant on takeaways and ready made.

And on feeds, I hope you have found a solution. I am using Feedly and quite happy with it!

Yeah, Feedly wonly I'm using now but then, I guess I still have some getting used to to do.
