Metamorphos-ing

Change.

For a long time, I and Change have had issues. Change meant loss of familiarity, loss of the comfortable-ness, loss of patterns and schedules that I work so hard to create. And that scared me beyond all reason, I was afraid that any semblance of order that I have in my life would go flying out of the window and the ruckus that will prevail then will lead to failure.
To losing my ability to do it right. I wrote a post about how the change that looms large is weighing heavy on my head and heart. Outwardly, I chin-upped at Change and said, bring it on. Inwardly, I trembled like aspen in a storm. I was afraid of giving up control.

Right down to when I got obsessively compulsive about little things like re-installing my OS for fear that I would lose everything I worked so hard to compile.

Then, change brought good things. Change showed me that love doesn't have to hurt all the time. That accepting your faults can be a good thing. That apologizing even when it's not your fault can save my own mind from going around in eternal circles. Change can make a best friend out of a mother whom I claimed had never 'understood' me.

Change shakes things up when they have settled down to make sludge. Change keeps the flame alive, change keeps things interesting. Change kicks monotony's ass. Change inspires.

Change can be a good thing too.

  2. nice thought provoking post. Your posts have become kind of introspective recently. Hope you are doing good. Believe me , when school and college is ending , it will feel like we are losing everything , but then , there is a different kind of nice life waiting outside..

    1. Because we humans, as a whole, are programmed to resist change. Because we're scared to step out of our comfort zone. Because we are dead scared of failing.

  12. is it just me or your thoughts are poetic, even if you chose prose.
so though my game is thinking, n i dont write poems, 'm takin an extempore inspired shot:

    dear change,
are you the mistress, or are you the wife?
are you the broth, or are you the spice?
are you the hammer? or are you the knife?
not permanent as death, but evolving.. as life
    :)
(hammer being crude destruction, knife being a skillful sharp tool, that alters so little, and yet so much)

  13. Hey PeeVee, I totally agree.. me thinks Change ultimately works in spite of the initial hiccups ... my super boss had this super story on Change - he was travelling by bus one day n the conductor told him - "I can't giv u change; you'll have to bring ur own change".. n the dude kinda changed our whole org n today, its pretty cool what he did to it....

ok, it sounded more inspirational when he said it.. ;)

    Long time, PeeVee :)

  16. My father always says '' Change is good, only if it is in the right dorection.''. Change can be scary but you realize or not, the circumstances and the surrounding you are in slowly changes you, for better or for worse.
    Great post!!

  17. The way you say it, I almost agree. :)
Personally, I like things to be the way they are. But of course, that's not always the case. Especially when life is in a rut, you have to have that change.

    1. Thanks, the more I manage to convert the more I can delude myself about my effective writing. I like them the way they are too but sometimes we don't even realise that rot has set in. Hence, keeping a positive attitude about change will make it easier to let go.

  19. Change does kick monotony's ass! But change is damn scary. You never know which way things are going to go.

And yes, change does inspire! :)

Is it just my eyes or are things really missing from the left and right sides?

  20. Okay! After reading this, I am actually waiting for new changes in life. Not that I haven't faced them but still. I just hope them to be good. But, anyways your post makes it sound positive. Loved it, specially the last lines. Your new follower :)

  22. I for one, have never liked change. Even when my mum changes the direction of the bed or even a table in my room, I go ballistic. But I hope that I, as you found out, have some good changes in my life too. And that I become more welcome to change as you did.
    Keep Writing.

  23. Change is always scary...I know the chin uppish feeling with everything sinking within...
but then the sooner we stop to fight the change that cannot be reverted, the easier it would be to love it-all the best Priyanka:-)

Also another one - A ship in a harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.

Enjoy the change, even then one that the bus conductor gives you after making a face :D

  25. Nice change to read about "change" ;) ... Its not in the nature of us humans to accept change with open arms. But once accepted, we'll be greeted with a whole world of new possibilities.

    Nice post as always :)

You just nailed those points! Change is something hard to be accepted, some can never accept them in fact. But once we do, life would be a better place :) I'm glad you've now passed that phase of denial. Once upon a time, I was such too. I use to get annoyed and depressed with every change in my life. Even the slightest one, like a new bed sheet. Much dramatic, yeah I know. Lol.

    1. Not at all, I completely get it. But unless we learn to let go, things that will keep testing our will to let go will keep happening and we'll keep being under pressure to let go of things that are most dear.

      Erm, did that make sense?
