Okay, now that I have gotten that out of my system, let's talk Thor: Ragnarok. Right off the bat, let me make it clear that I love superhero movies but I haven't read ANY amount of comics to qualify as an educated commentator on these storylines and their placement in the multiverse. I watch them as (sort-of) standalones and do not look for logic (because, guys, hot men and women in spandex suits with awesome superpowers) in their links to each other or their motivations, so to speak.

Thor: Ragnarok will always be that one superhero movie that has (till date) had me laughing till I cried in the theatre. Such perfect little well-placed joke nuggets throughout the movie. Of course, the little appearances made by some of my favorit-est people also make it all that much better (I'm trying SO HARD not to give away any spoilers).

Hela was the one who stole the show for me, though, with one of her first Asgard scenes. Her hair-do-thingamajig is lit and I thought I'd hate her for breaking the Mjolnir but I ended up being like :O in her scenes. I have this sneaky feeling that Thor supposedly won the "war" (with whatever was left of his dignity and body parts) only because he was the lead character and the supposed "good" guy; because Hela seemed like she could whoop his ass all the way to Earth and back and then some. Also, I might be getting a little tired of his "God of Thunder, Odinson" routine. Good thing, he is smouldering to look at.

That said, it might rankle with the hardcore fans that there was too less substance in the whole plot. The Goddess of Death raining down upon you, the King of Asgard losing body parts, Mjolnir being shattered into smithereens (CRIE), and everyone is still walking around cracking one-liners. One poignant moment when all goes to shit and Thor says, "What have I done?" and THAT'S IT. Everything else is fala-lalala.

Of course, the BGM has been playing on loop, but we already knew that. The scenes with the Hulk/Banner were EPIC and even the ones with Loki didn't tear me apart trying to decide whether to hate the God of Mischief or love Tom Hiddleston. The Bleecker Street scenes, of course, had me screaming because OMGTOOMUCHTOHANDLE and understandably so. There is also a host of these little characters who I loved, one being Korg. I really wish there was more of Valkyrie in the movie. And of course, the scenes with the God of Lightning coming to his own are great, as well.

I'm definitely going again for the fun.
What did you think?

LOL, I felt the same way... but my brother was being all hoity-toity :P
I'm curious, do they let Ri in for these movies? In Coimbatore, all English movies (even superhero stuff) come with an A certificate and my 17.5 y.o sister is not let in (much to her annoyance) xD

  3. I loved the movie and Hela a lot. In fact, I wanted a bit more of Loki as he was looking so good all dressed up, gelled hair and nothing to do.

    1. You said it! Usually I end up hating him for his nonsensical behavior, he redeemed himself this time tho :P
Also, that scene when the two of them open fire *google eyes* <3
